This collection of guidances and inspiration has been written down by people immediatedly affected by state repression. Others who supported the cause of political prisoners at some point in their live contributed to the collection.
We all share our experiences and insights in how to cope with such kind of crisis in the hope that they might be inspiration and support to others. The different impulses might be contradicting each other, they might not fit to your – the reader‘s – situation at all. We invite you to take up what is useful, to change what feels helpful to you and to dismiss what is not yours.
We are happy to receive your insights, your empowering and helpful practices of survival and supporting. Your perspectives are welcome – as detainees, as family members, as lawyers, and supporters. We invite you to focus – as we did as well – on what worked well, what felt supportive, helpful, and empowering. Doing this, we acknowledge all the suffering, stress, and trauma that such a situation brings along for those in prison as much as for those outside.
